Winter is just now releasing its hold on this far north portion of the United States and the season, though very short, is about to become spring. My assistant for our Glacier N.P. workshop, Tom Stotler and I, have just finished a pre-workshop scout into what was open to us at this time of year. Although we did not experience a lot of what we will see and do during our workshop, we did accomplish a great deal in the time we had.

Snow capped peaks along with glaciers were in view as were creeks and streams in all areas of the park. Our time was devoted to touring the four basic areas that will be our focal points on the workshop. Mainly Lake McDonald, as seen in the the top image and below as well as Lake St. Mary, Many Glacier and Two Medicine Lake.

We feel this workshop will be one of the highlights of our year. Glacier National Park is in northwestern Montana. Geologic processes formed and sculpted the peaks, leaving about 50 glaciers and 200 lakes. The mountains to the east are a result of an over thrust of the Earth's crust. Rock layers about a billion years old lie above layers millions of years younger. Some of the finest mountain scenery in america is within this 1-million-acre park!

Days will be long in August and we will cover a great deal of territory. We plan on working hard and playing the same way. Thousands of frames will be shot and memories to be made as well. We will be out long before sunrise and not back until long after the last light of sunset. We will have the advantage of a full moon rising at sunset also. Don't miss this one!

Our workshop will be based at the historic Glacier Park Lodge. The lodge sits on the Blackfoot reservation in East Glacier. This remote location is both isolated and beautiful. With the park as its backdrop, the serene atmosphere will become part of our daily routine.

There is very limited space available for this gem of an adventure and workshop. Please register now! August will be here soon and you'll want to be with us to photograph this area for yourself!
